Welcome to MoonDance Airedales!

We are hobby breeders, who show our own dogs (and those of a few friends) in conformation. We have dabbled in obedience and agility training. We're members of the Airedale Terrier Club of America and are active in breed rescue.

We don't have a kennel, so the dogs live in the house and puppies are raised in the kitchen. Our yard is full of huge excavation sites, balls, toys, and occasional stuffing material! Taylor loves the family of opossums that invaded the yard(maybe she wants to join Hunting and Working!). Cassie (the oldest girl) and Duke (the black lab) are in charge and keep everyone in line. Noel (the cow) keeps the dogs entertained!

We maintain the Airedale Terrier FAQ to assist anyone interested in learning more about one of the breeds that we love.

As breeders, we feel that it is our responsibility, and to our benefit, to carefully choose the animals that we breed. Each breeding is done with the intent of producing the next generation of our breeding program. This means that we must take into consideration many aspects of the animals that we choose. Some of the things that we consider when making these decisions are:

Temperament:
Do these animals exhibit the traits that create good companions, while still being terrier and maintaining a "working" ability?
Health:
Have these animals been screened for things such as good hips, good skin, healthy ears, good muscle, etc.? We use the tools that are available to screen for known genetic problems. Unfortunately at this time, there are only a limited number of tools available and they are, in most cases, indicators but not guarantees!
Conformation:
Do these animals conform in most ways to the breed standard as approved by the AKC?
Note: No animal conforms to all of these guidelines in all ways. Breeding is somewhat like putting a jig-saw puzzle together. While trying to constantly maintain good temperament and health, we try to put together the conformation pieces to create our perfect dog.

We feel very responsible for any puppies, rescues or older dogs that are adopted as companions therefore we require a signed contract stating our responsibilities as well as yours. Some of the points covered in the contract are:

Our responsibilities:

  • All puppies are sold on Limited Registration.
  • A complete list of vaccinations is provided.
  • Future vaccination recommendations.
  • AKC registration information.
Pookie

New owner responsibilities:

  • The puppy or older dog is to be a member of the family, a "house" pet!
  • The puppy must be spayed/neutered, at an appropriate age.
  • Vaccinations and medications must be kept up to date.
  • Abide the leash laws of their area.

This is part of our lifelong commitment to each of these animals!

Our thanks to: Linda Baake (Lynaire), Margo Dupre (Traymar), Susan Anderson (Contraire),and Betty Hoisington (Eden), all of whom have contributed to our learning more about Airedales, and dogs in general.

Special thanks to: Maripi and Jen (TerrydaleHK) for all the help!
